Uninstallation

MARTA can be uninstalled using the standard Joomla extension manager. The operation should be carried out by an administrator who understands its effect on the data.

Before uninstalling

1. Confirm that MARTA is no longer used on the website.
2. Record the menu items and modules that use the MARTA timetable.
3. Make a full backup of the Joomla database and files.
4. Confirm that the backup can be restored.
5. Schedule a maintenance window if the timetables are publicly available.

Disabling the component or unpublishing its menu items does not remove data. If the aim is only to hide the timetable temporarily, use one of these options instead of uninstalling MARTA.

Recommended removal order

If the timetable module is installed, remove the module before the component:

1. Sign in to the Joomla administrator area.
2. Go to System → Manage → Extensions.
3. Search for MARTA.
4. Select the MARTA — schedule days module and choose Uninstall.
5. Search for MARTA again.
6. Select the MARTA component and choose Uninstall.
7. Confirm the operation and check the Joomla message.

Section names may vary slightly between Joomla versions.

Data removed from the database

The component uninstallation procedure drops the following tables:

• #__marta_schedules;
• #__marta_schedule_periods;
• #__marta_groups;
• #__marta_instructors;
• #__marta_course_types;
• #__marta_levels;
• #__marta_rooms;
• #__marta_buildings.

During installation, Joomla replaces the #__ placeholder with the table prefix configured for the website.

Removing only the mod_marta_schedule_days module does not delete component data.

After uninstalling

The administrator should:

• remove or change menu items that point to MARTA views;
• check the website for empty module positions and broken links;
• clear the Joomla cache;
• retain the backup in accordance with the organisation’s policies.

Reinstallation

Reinstalling MARTA creates empty tables. It does not restore previously deleted buildings, rooms or timetables.

To recover earlier data, restore the appropriate tables from the database backup made before uninstallation. This operation should be performed by a database administrator or the person responsible for maintaining the website.
