What is MARTA? MARTA (Polish: Modułowa Aplikacja Rezerwacji i Tworzenia Aktywności; Modular Application for Reservations and Activity Creation) is a Joomla extension for managing activity timetables and room use.
The system brings together information about locations, groups and instructors, then uses it to build a clear timetable. The timetable can be managed from the Joomla administrator area and published directly on the website.
A single source of truth MARTA stores all the information needed to prepare a timetable in one place.
MARTA runs as a Joomla extension. Most of its technical requirements therefore follow from the requirements of Joomla itself and the Joomla version in use.
Core requirements Joomla MARTA requires a working Joomla website with access to the administrator area and extension installer.
Use a current, supported Joomla release. Before deployment, the administrator should confirm that the supplied MARTA package supports the major Joomla version used by the website.
PHP The PHP version and required PHP extensions must meet the requirements of the installed Joomla version.
MARTA packages MARTA is supplied as ZIP packages that are installed with the standard Joomla extension installer.
A complete deployment may include two separate files:
com_marta-{version}.zip — the required MARTA component; mod_marta_schedule_days-{version}.zip — the optional module for displaying selected timetable days. The component is sufficient for the core functionality. Download and install the module only when the timetable needs to be displayed in a Joomla template module position.
How do I obtain a package?
Before you begin Before installation, review the technical requirements and obtain the correct installation packages.
The administrator should make a current backup of the website files and database. Perform the first installation in a test environment whenever possible.
Installing the component Sign in to the Joomla administrator area. Go to System → Install Extensions. Open the option to install from a package file. Select com_marta-{version}.zip. Wait for the message confirming that the installation has completed.
MARTA can be updated using the standard Joomla extension installer. Install the new package directly over the existing component.
! Warning
Do not uninstall the previous MARTA version before an update. Uninstalling the component removes its database tables and all the data stored in them. Before updating The administrator should:
Confirm that the package supports the Joomla version in use. Check the version numbers of the installed and downloaded MARTA releases.
MARTA can be uninstalled using the standard Joomla extension manager. The operation should be carried out by an administrator who understands its effect on the data.
! Warning
Uninstalling the MARTA component permanently removes all its database tables. This includes buildings, rooms, instructors, groups, timetable entries and timetable periods. Reinstalling the component cannot recover this data without a backup. Before uninstalling Confirm that MARTA is no longer used on the website.
