Uninstallation
Safely uninstall the LENA package and handle its data and retained photo files.
Before uninstallation
Uninstalling the package removes the component, both plugins and the LENA database tables. The script deliberately leaves uploaded photos in the images directory, however, so files do not disappear automatically with the extension.
Before proceeding, back up:
- the Joomla database;
- every directory used by LENA for storing photos;
- menu item configuration if it may be needed when restoring the website;
- the list of articles containing
{lena album="ID"}shortcodes.
Uninstalling in Joomla
- Go to System → Manage → Extensions.
- Search for the LENA package.
- Select the package so Joomla removes the component and both constituent plugins together.
- Select Uninstall and confirm.
- Check Joomla’s completion message.
What should happen to retained files?
Keep the photos if you intend to reinstall LENA or are troubleshooting a problem. Reinstalling does not recreate deleted records, albums or assignments from the files alone without a database backup. If LENA is being removed permanently, the server administrator should remove directories only after identifying every storage location used by the component.
The default location is images/lena, but the photo directory option may have been changed. Such a change affects new imports only, so an older library may use more than one directory. Do not remove a directory based solely on the option’s current value.
The {lena album="ID"} shortcodes remain in articles. After the plugin is removed, they may appear as plain text, so remove them from published articles. Also remove or disable menu items pointing to LENA.
Reinstalling the package alone will not restore the galleries. Restoring the previous albums, IDs and assignments also requires a backup of the database and files.
