Photo trash

Move a photo to the trash to hide it from the active photo library and every LENA gallery. You can restore it later. To remove a photo from only one album, use the cross on its card in that album.

Photo trash and album trash are separate. Moving an album to the trash does not trash its photos.

Moving a photo to the trash

1. Open a photo in the main library.
2. Select Move to trash.
3. Read the message and confirm.

The photo disappears from the active library, album views in the administrator area and public views. Its album assignments and ordering are retained.

Opening the trash

Under Photos, change Show from Published to Trashed. Search works in this view too.

Restoring

Restore one photo from its viewer. To restore several, select their markers and use the bulk restore action.

After restoration, a photo returns to the active library and its previous albums at its retained positions. If it was the selected cover and no other cover was chosen, it may reappear as the cover.

Permanent deletion

Permanent deletion is available only after a photo has been trashed. It removes:

• the original;
• every generated variant;
• the photo record;
• every album assignment;
• its use as an album cover.

You can delete one item, several selected items or use Empty trash. Bulk permanent deletion requires an additional confirmation. Emptying the trash affects every trashed photo, including items hidden by the current search phrase.

Privacy limitation of the trash

In LENA 1.0, moving a photo to the trash changes its component state but does not move its files into a private directory. The component stops presenting them, but someone who knows an exact previous file URL may still be able to access it until permanent deletion. A copy may also remain in a browser, proxy or CDN cache.

Moving a photo to the trash therefore does not block access to its file through a direct URL.
