Album settings
Album form fields and the Other tab.
The album form has permanent Title and Alias fields and two tabs: Photos in this album and Other. Other opens for a new album; the photo tab opens by default for an existing one.
Basic fields
- Title — required; displayed in the administrator area, album lists and the separate album page. A gallery inserted into an article does not add this title automatically.
- Alias — the URL segment created automatically from the title when left empty. It must be unique within the category.
Changing a title does not necessarily change an existing alias. If a new URL is required, check the alias manually and consider the effect on existing links.
Other tab
- Description — content prepared in Joomla’s editor. It is not displayed by LENA 1.0’s standard frontend view.
- Category — an optional Joomla category used to group albums. An album with No category can be published individually but cannot appear on an Albums in a category page.
- Status — Published, Unpublished or Trashed.
- Access — the Joomla view level required from a visitor.
- Ordering — the album’s position, used primarily within its category.
First save
A new album has no identifier, so its photos cannot be managed immediately. Enter a title and select Save. The Photos in this album tab is enabled after this first save.
If a user can create albums but cannot edit their state, a new album is stored as unpublished. A user with state-editing permission must publish it.
Category and frontend access
An album assigned to a category is visible only when:
- the album is published;
- its Access level is available to the visitor;
- its category is published and available;
- every parent category is also published and available.
These rules apply to the category list, the separate album page and galleries inserted into articles.
What does Access protect?
The access level restricts how Joomla displays the album. However, photo files are stored in the public images directory. In this version of LENA, anyone who knows a direct file URL can open it without visiting the album. This also applies to originals.
Restricting an album to registered users or unpublishing it therefore does not make the files themselves private. Consider this before uploading photos that should not be publicly accessible.
