This page covers the basic tasks to understand before you begin working with MARTA data and timetables.
How do I open MARTA? MARTA is available in the Joomla administrator area. The standard sign-in address is:
https://example.com/administrator ! Example address
example.com is only an example. Replace it with the domain of the website on which MARTA is installed. If the administrator address has been changed, or you do not have sign-in details, contact the website administrator.
A building is the parent item in the MARTA location structure. It groups rooms under a shared name and address and makes it possible to prepare a separate timetable for each location.
Create at least one building before adding rooms. The next step is covered on the Rooms page.
How do I open the Buildings list? Sign in to the Joomla administrator area. Go to Components → MARTA. Select Buildings from the MARTA Dashboard.
A room is a specific space in which activities take place. Every room must belong to one building, so create the building structure before adding rooms.
A timetable entry links a group to a room, day of the week and time range. Clear room names and correct building assignments therefore have a direct effect on timetable clarity.
How do I open the Rooms list? Sign in to the Joomla administrator area.
A class type describes an activity offered by the organisation, such as classical ballet, English or robotics. It contains a shared name, description and image that can be used by several groups.
A class type is not a group or timetable entry. It identifies what is taught, while a group represents particular participants and can later be placed on the timetable.
How do I open the Class types list? Sign in to the Joomla administrator area.
A level is an optional label assigned to a group or class. It can describe the participants’ age, proficiency or another classification used by the organisation.
Example levels include ‘Ages 6–8’, ‘Beginner’ and ‘Advanced’. A level does not replace a class type: the class type identifies the activity, while the level provides more detail about the group.
Enabling levels Levels are an optional feature. If the Levels shortcut is not visible on the MARTA Dashboard:
An instructor is a profile for a person who can be assigned to one or more groups. It stores the basic information presented in MARTA’s administrator area and, depending on the view configuration, on the website timetable.
An instructor profile is not a Joomla user account. Creating one does not grant access to the administrator area or give the person any additional permissions.
How do I open the Instructors list? Go to Components → MARTA.
A group represents the participants in an activity placed on the schedule. It can describe a school class, a regular activity group or another organisational unit.
A group combines information prepared earlier: a class type, an optional level and one or more instructors. The schedule entry then assigns that group to a particular room, weekday and time.
How do I open the Groups list? Go to Components → MARTA. Select Groups (classes) from the MARTA Dashboard.
The Schedule consists of recurring weekly entries. Each entry specifies which group occupies a selected room, on which weekday and at what time.
An entry is not a one-off event on a particular date. It recurs each week as part of the Continuous schedule or a selected schedule period.
Continuous schedule and periods The Continuous schedule is the standard weekly plan and is sufficient for normal operation. You do not need to create a period before publishing activities.
A schedule period stores a separate set of weekly entries that applies within a date range or for as long as it is manually published. It can replace the Continuous schedule or supplement it with additional activities.
A period covers entries across all buildings. It is not assigned to one building, room or weekday.

The Continuous schedule is sufficient for a regular weekly plan that does not change.
